Have A Nice Fit is a 100% woman-owned business devoted to selling office and workplace products that meet high quality standards, are exceptionally comfortable to use, and are manufactured with a conscious effort to reduce waste, toxins in the workplace environment, and maximize recycled materials. The offices at Have A Nice Fit maximize the utilization of recycled materials and recycling of their by-products, use 100% recycled paper, energy efficient lighting, Energy Star laptop computers, high efficiency windows, and keep the thermostat at 68 degrees in winter and 78 degrees in summer during working hours only. To offset the energy and CO2 emissions produced in our business, we purchase renewable energy certificates with Carbonfund. This company generates electricity though renewable methods (solar) and sells it to the power companies (in California, that is PG&E) thereby lowering the requirements for traditional "dirty" methods of energy production such as nuclear. To streamline transportation and eliminate tme delays, all products are shipped directly from the manufacturer to you.

We recognize that many people spend a large part of their day in an office environment which has, in the past, been filled with unhealthy and uncomfortable furnishings and we are doing our part to sell only products that will keep America's workforce both injury-free and healthy.

While we do endorse the idea of recycling products through reuse, office furnishings are not very conducive to this concept. Old office chairs are generally nightmares when it comes to ergonomics and comfort. They were not constructed to be used with computer workstations, are not usually adjustable, and do not generally conform well with the human body. In addition, if there is padding, it is often flattened and decomposed. Adjustments on older chairs are usually cumbersome, requiring kneeling on the floor to rotate rings or cranking knobs, so modifying a chair to fit you is not an easy task. For these reasons, we encourage you to use the theory of reuse in other products that really were made better in the "good old days". Office furniture is now much better than the old days and it's designed for use with our current technology.

Recyclable/Recycled Materials
  • Plastic components are composed of up to 25% recycled materials in sturctured plastic parts and up to 40% recycled materials on non-structured parts.
  • Prestige "Fruit" pattern line of fabrics is made of 100% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.
  • Momentum line of fabrics is made of 80% recycled materials.
  • Chairs are approximately 100% recyclable (minus paint, foam, and fabric).
  • Virgin ABS plastic is used in injection-molded seats and backs. During manufacturing, up to 25% of the waste is reground and reused for use in the finished product.
  • Cold-rolled steel is approx. 94.7% recycled primarily from automobiles.
  • Aluminum in posts is 60-90% recycled.
  • Wood fiber is 90-95% recycled. All wood fiber is from mills only processing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products.
  • Surface laminates are primarily composed of Kraft paper; approximately 40% recovered materials.
Foam Components CFC-free (Cholorfluorocarbons). Office Master foam cusions are made from the most advanced European Formulas that yield top quality feel without using any harmful CFCs in the process. Additionally, scrap from the manufacturing process is used as packaging material, eliminating the need for environmentally-costly packaging materials such as bubble wrap and new foam. All Neutral Posture foam is PBDE-free (Polybrominated diphenal ethers). Additionally, scrap from the manufacturing process is returned to the vendor for recycling/reuse> no foam components
Water-Based Glues Office Master uses environmentally friendly water-based adhesives for their products. They have completely phased out the use of environmentally damaging solvent-based glues. Neutral Posture uses primarily MDI (Methyl Diphenyl Diisocyanate) adhesive, which contains no formaldehyde to be released in the finished product. Cured MDI is very stable, and off-gassing of MDI from the product diminishes very rapidly after removal from the press to levels well below the detection limit. A CFC-free adhesive was chosen because of its preferable characteristics for use in the manufacturing process of gluing foam to foam and foam to fabric. The brands of adhesive chosen were picked for their functionality, water solubility and performance as a high-tack adhesive. This water soluble glue is just one more way in which Neutral Posture contributes to the overall, green manufacturing process. Water-based adhesives for laminates. Hot melt glue for end caps, handles, toecaps, etc.
Metal No current policy released. Neutral Posture's chairs contain steel that is 100% recyclable. Additionally, up to 25% of this steel comes from recycled product, since 25% is the maximum we can utilize while still ensuring the strongest possible product for our customers.
  • Cold-rolled steel is approx. 94.7% recycled primarily from automobiles.
  • Aluminum in posts is 60-90% recycled.
Wood No current policy released. The molded fiber composite used to manufacture our seats is produced using aspen (Populus tremuloides and Populus grandidentata) pulpwood as the raw material. In addition to excellent gluing properties, aspen has the advantages of being fast growing, abundant across the northern tier of North America and regenerates quickly and naturally from root suckers as part of an even-age management system. By utilizing pulpwood quality material, molded fiber composite does not require wood from old growth forests or long rotation management systems, such as would be required for veneer quality hardwood logs supplied to veneer mills for molded plywood. Green logs contain a high percentage of water (50% by weight). Drying the logs and removing the processing waste (over 20% vs. 50% for solid wood products) close to the woodland source is energy efficient. The manufacturing plant setup to process local forest resources helps to save the high-energy cost of transporting green veneer logs long distances for processing and redistribution in a rough form. By flaking strands from pulpwood, our suppliers recover about 30% more usable fiber from the pulp stick than is possible using conventional production methods for producing rotary veneer from high quality logs. This process efficiency helps avoid the use of high quality veneer logs, and actually requires a smaller volume of logs to produce the same product. This translates to avoidance of harvesting activities on a significant amount of forestland to produce the same product. Wood residues from the processing and trimming operations are recycled into local markets for wood energy and horse bedding.
  • Wood fiber is 90-95% recycled. All wood fiber is from mills only processing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products.
  • Surface laminates are primarily composed of Kraft paper; approximately 40% recovered materials.
Shipping Office Masster vendors and suppliers ship raw materials in reusable metal cages rather than heavy-duty cardboard that is typically used once and discarded. Neutral Posture recycles all cardboard packaging received in their shipping & receiving department. Their metal vendors deliver products in reusable metal cages.
Neutral Posture shipping boxes (to you) are produced from 45% recycled material and 100% of the material comes from renewable pulp resources. For large orders, customers can opt for blanket-wrapping which totally eliminates packaging materials. Additionally, customers can opt for 100% recycled materials for an upcharge.
Products are shipped in reusable blanket wrap. Where further protection is required, 100% recycled honeycomb cardboard is used instead of foam.
Company-wide Green Policy Every employee at Office Master takes part in a continual effort to be energy and environment-efficient. They do everything from recycling selected materials from the bathrooms and kitchens to utilizing natural lighting in the warehouse, as well as turning off the lights at night and reusing plastic bags. From administrative offices to the production floor, Neutral Posture is careful to recycle everything from paper in the offices to aluminum cans in the breakroom. All cardboard is collected and donated to a local charity for recycling. The corporate profit-sharing program provides an incentive for all employees to pitch in and eliminate waste from administrative and manufacturing processes alike. Neutral Posture has eliminated distribution of a paper Owner's Manual, since they found that most users do not refer to them. An Owner's Manual is integrated into the arm of chairs and online video clips are available for each chair adjustment along with postural guidelines at their website: www.igoergo.com Watson desking, the manufacturers of Activewerks, has received numerous awards including the Washington State Governor's Award and the U.S. Government's Evergreen Award. From the ground up, in every aspect of manufacturing and corporate offices, they are acknowledged by the environmental community as honorable stewards of the environment. Activewerks recycles more than 50% of it's watse materials from both manufacturing and administrative areas including aluminum, ferrous metals, wood debris, cardboard, paper, newspaper, and other office waste.
Other Each year, Office Master reviews its environmental policies and identifies areas of improvement. They measure the impact of production and consumption, and use that information to imporve their environmental polices. Neutral Posture chairs are made to last, so it's common to find customers with very old chairs. Although the products are continually improved, customers of older chairs can purchase new parts and retrofit individual components onto older chairs, thus extending the life of the chair much longer. Other manufacturing processes:
  • Steam-cleaning of metal produces water that is reclaimed, filtered and reused.
  • Metal components are finished with an electrostatic powder coat baking process that emits no VOC's (volatile organic compounds.
  • Sugar is used instead of sand in the sand-blasting process, eliminating the discharge of toxic particles and producing environmentally neutral dust.
  • Environmentally friendly cleaning products such as Simple Green are used throughout the manufacturing facility.
